A few weeks after my dad crossed over I was out driving, listening to whatever music YouTube chose to give me, when a song came on that pushed its way so deep into my heart that I pulled over so I could write down the title.
It was Calum Scott’s “You are the Reason.”
In the weeks that followed I played it over and over again on youtube and I was surprised I never heard it on the radio. It is SO good!
Then one day I happened to notice the date on the video – 2018. It was over a year old. How could this be the first time I’m hearing it?
Initially it was just the tune of the song that gave me comfort but out of curiosity I googled the lyrics one day and immediately I knew why this song found its way to me…
If I could turn back the clock
I’d make sure the light defeated the dark
I’d spend every hour, of every day
Keeping you safe
It was a message from my Dad…
I’ve shared a lot about my dad here before but the one thing I never told you is he was the reason I was always afraid to make a mistake. He inadvertently created one of the wounds I spent most of my adult life healing.
I’ll share more about that in future emails (and in my book “No Space for Magic” that will be published in the Fall).
Here is what I want you to know right now … he was a good man. He just had an overwhelming life and he let that overwhelm spill onto me. He didn’t mean to. It just happened.
After he crossed over, one of his consistent messages was “I’m sorry.”
He told me he saw things clearly now that he didn’t understand when he was in human form. And he wanted to help me heal.
And he has. That song is one of the ways he’s helped.
Why am I telling you this?
If you have any old wounds that are coming up for you right now, I promise you that you did not create them. They were handed to you by another because that is how being human works.
We pass around our love and we pass around our pain.
It is possible that right now in this difficult time in our world, your wounds are right at the surface.
It is hard, I know. I also know you have help.
At this moment the veil between us and the other side is very thin. This is intentional because of the time we are in. Your ancestors, angels and Guides are closer than they’ve ever been because what you may be going through is hard.
The beings that handed down their pain have the ability to help you heal in a way they never have before. You may not be able to see and hear them like I can but I am telling you they are close.
Ask them for help. Tell them you need them to lift some of the pain so you can breathe and see clearly. And if you need an anthem to get you through this, take this song my dad left me because I know the people that handed their pain to you, that are now on the other side, would want you to hear this too:
I’d climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I’ve broken
You are loved. More than you can possibly know.
And just know that when you make the conscious choice to share your love and heal your pain you help humanity evolve.
When you choose to take on your wounds and start to heal them you will also help heal the world.
