Patty talks to author and activist Marjorie Phoenix on today’s podcast. Her book, Who The Hell Do You Think You Are? Is her personal story of survival. She went from being a stay-at-home mom in a nice home to homeless and penniless and fighting for survival.
After getting back on her feet, she also founded the Giving Voices Project.
Their mission: We strengthen and empower survivors of abuse using artistic healing techniques while engaging and educating society regarding the effects of abuse.
Marjorie wants women to know that God is with you. Whatever your circumstances, you are not alone. Her experience has allowed her to create the life and work that she has now.
Patty asked Marjorie to share guidance for those who hear this story and want to help others. She outlines 4 key things that you can do to support and help someone who is dealing with abuse.

About Marjorie Phoenix
Marjorie is the author of “Who the hell do you think you are? ” an award-winning speaker with Toastmaster’s International. In 2015 she founded Giving Voices Project, a non-profit organization that tells the stories of survivors using the arts
Marjorie’s personal journey with using art to heal began in 2010 when after 7 years of marriage and being a stay at home mother, she found herself spending the night in jail, homeless and fighting for her child and her life.
Marjorie believes her voice should be used for those that are voiceless, so she created A Seat at the Table as a way for women to share stories around social issues that affect them through art. She continues to use her voice as an advocate and public speaker on how the change we are seeking to solve these social issues begins and end with each of us. She uses this philosophy as a member of the Criminal Justice Committee of Organize Florida and Color of Change Racial Justice Organization.
Marjorie is a proud graduate of the University of Central Florida with a degree in Sociology, and Women & Gender Studies.
