Last week I was having dinner with a friend and fellow coach. She asked me what was up with all my “anti-planning” communication. Don’t I like plans?
I LOVE plans.
I am a control freak from way back and plans are like crack to my ego. That is the problem. Plans belong in the realm of the ego. And ego should always be the servant to the soul.
If the soul has issued marching orders for the year in the form of a VISION then plans are awesome. They allow the ego to execute on the soul’s vision and our entire self – mind, body and soul – acts in harmony.
Beautiful things come from plans. Plans make our human selves feel safe and that is important.
The reason I was advocating against planning for the last couple of weeks was that the energy for planning wasn’t there for most of us. I didn’t feel it. My clients didn’t feel it. And if you weren’t feeling it, I wanted you to know it was ok.
What I was feeling was a need to release what was not working before I jumped into any planning. My soul demanded this of me. Saying good-bye to business activities and even entire groups of people felt delicious and a little scary. This is often the mix of emotions I feel when my soul is calling me towards expansion.
I’ve learned to trust the directive of my soul because magical things happen when I do. Lo and behold on Thursday morning I received a download of my entire VISION for 2017. In the minutes that followed, I outlined my full year’s marketing plan. It took me less than an hour. If I had tried to do that before I was inspired it would have taken me days and possibly weeks. I know because this is how I used to run my business.
The timing wasn’t a surprise to me either. Wednesday evening hosted the full moon. The full moon is a time of release. It’s also a time to teach and share and that was a HUGE part of the marketing plan I downloaded.
