When you have a small business, getting paid matters. In fact, it matters a lot. My clients are purpose-driven women that are doing their WORK in the world and getting paid is often something they struggle with.
For many purpose-driven entrepreneurs, focusing on money feels wrong or selfish. I love helping women embrace their right to abundance and see it as a vital part of doing good work in this world.
It is one of the reasons I’m so passionate about sharing the power of Crowdfunding. Crowdfunding helps purpose-driven women connect their mission to a bigger audience so that they can easily connect the dots between the good they are doing and the money that will help that good grow.
So when I received a call from my colleague, Donna Cravotta, a few days ago, I was reminded in a really big way that the money is important, but sometimes what you get paid isn’t what really matters.
Shortly after my call with Donna’s group, a young girl named Makayla Darden was shot in the chest. Her family has limited resources. A crowdfunding campaign was launched to support the family. The campaign is averaging $1000/day to help save her. And it happened because of that call.
That call happened because of a series of women bringing their gifts to the world in the biggest way possible.
Donna tells the story far more beautifully than I could. Please visit her blog to read what happened here: http://socialsagepr.com/transforming-tragedy-possibility/.
What I want you to know is that you deserve money. It is your right to get paid for the good you do in the world, but the good you do in this world is what matters. Money just helps it grow.
