My family and I just returned from a vacation to Orlando, Florida. The first two days were amazing. We had a blast but about the third day in I almost had a nervous breakdown trying to micro manage my family’s wants and needs.
Let me clarify. I almost had a nervous breakdown trying to micro manage what I believed my family’s wants and needs were. I never actually consulted them (since I’m all knowing, obviously).
Even now, this many years into learning about life and love and law of attraction I can still get it “wrong.” I forget that everyone is responsible for his or her own happiness and it is not my job to make anyone (but myself) happy. Luckily for me I figured out pretty quickly what was going on.
I took a few deep breaths. I went for a walk (in the sunshine – thank you Florida for being so sunny!) I returned and apologized to my family for becoming a bit of a loon. We hit the restart button.
Everyone agreed that having a general plan on what we were going to do each day was super-helpful but we needed room for flow and inspiration. We created that plan together and sure enough the rest of the week became one of the best vacations we’ve ever taken.
What about you? Do you use your control freak tendencies to sabotage your happiness sometimes? I’d love to hear about it!
