Each day I talk to moms who are struggling on some level with their life. No matter who I am speaking with and what her particular struggle looks like we inevitably get to a place where she tells me that “It’s really not that bad” or “I guess its fine. Maybe I just expect too much.”
Gah!
“Why yes you selfish, selfish cow”, I answer sarcastically (oh yeah, I’m sarcastic sometimes. Ok, a lot of times.)
“Wanting to be happy, to feel fulfilled and have an occasional full night of sleep… Where do you get off with these lofty expectations?”
So many of us tolerate our lives rather than live them, especially while our children are growing up. We decide we have to wait until after our children leave home to have fun, excitement, passion in our lives. We negotiate and whittle the expectations we have for our lives until they are so small that they all but disappear.
And then we wake up one morning, look around and think “How the heck did I get here?!!!”
If this is you I have good news!
The awesome, incredible Ms. Mel Robbins has issued a wake up call to all who have put their lives on hold. If you feel stuck and are ready to get unstuck check out Mel’s new book Stop Saying Your Fine!
Mel tells it like it is and I truly admire her for this. She has no intention of making you feel all warm and fuzzy while reading her book. And there is a reason. She wants you to love your life, to feel powerful as the decision maker in your life and be successful and she’s ready to give you a kick in the a** to get you there!
This is not for the faint of heart but if you want to feel passionate and powerful once again, or perhaps for the first time this is a must read!
I love books. I read all the time and often about new and better ways to get unstuck. There are many options out there but what I love about Mel’s book is that she is a mom so she works in real live examples to which you and I can relate.
She talks about the mom who finally takes her first yoga class and is embarrassed because she doesn’t look or feel the part. She talks about the mom who is ready to go back to work but has been out of the job market so long she talks herself out of her own success. You see what I mean?! Mel’s talking about us ladies!
You can order the book from her website or amazon.com. Please consider gifting yourself with this information. And in the meantime, send her a little shout out letting her know she is appreciated for acknowledging the very distinct and important struggles we can face as moms.
Oh yeah, and if you are still doing it, PLEASE – Stop Saying You’re Fine!
