Almost every week I speak with purpose-driven entrepreneurs that tell me they wish they were further along in their businesses. Often times I take these calls from women who started their businesses around the same time I did or have been in business longer than I have.
They want to know what did I do differently that allowed me to grow faster or with more success.
Of course, I’m more than happy to share how I grew my business to six figures and beyond. And more recently I like to focus on the fact that I run this business working 20-30 hours a week and taking large chunks of time off to spend with my family or just myself.
But there has been something I’m hearing underneath these questions that is making my heart hurt a whole bunch and I want it to stop.
Underneath the “Why am I not further along?” question is a belief that somewhere on the path you were supposed to zig left and instead you zagged right. Somewhere you got it wrong. Somewhere you screwed up.
And I’m calling bullsh*t on that right now.
You are exactly where you are supposed to be. You have done everything perfectly right to contribute to this planet as you intended to in this life experience. You have not lost time. You are not behind anyone or anything. You are a wonderful, amazing, beautiful light in this world.
Yes, there are people doing really cool things in their businesses and if they inspire you to do something more, better or different in your own business that is great!
But please don’t for a second use them as a way to punish yourself. You are too precious. You don’t deserve that.
Your success is a culmination of so many aspects of your existence – your relationships, your wounds and how you heal them, your grief, your joy, what you give and what you receive.
You are a soul having this earth bound experience. Let your soul define your success.
You know exactly why you are where you are and how you got here. Appreciate that. Value that. And if you can give yourself that kind of love you will be amazed at what happens next!
