Hey, there, welcome to this episode of the space for magic podcast. I am your host, Patty Lennon. And today we’re gonna talk about surrender. This one will be short and sweet. I know I’ve talked about it here before feel like many times, but had a conversation with a friend a couple of weeks ago. And she said you need to share this with your audience. And I did put an email out describing my experience with surrender, but I couldn’t quite get it, to have the punch, or to really get to the heart of what I was trying to convey in words. So I thought this will be an easier format for me to do this. What I observe with people who are surrendering. And I also observed this in myself, when I start to I put that in quotes surrender is to make this surrender conditional. And we don’t realize we’re doing it. And the thing is surrender cannot be conditional. So what does it look like to really surrender without conditions? Well, if you are feeling called to surrender, or you know that that’s your next step. And by surrender, I mean, letting go, because people have told me they don’t like the word it feels like it’s giving up. And in a way it is it’s giving up control, but it’s not giving up. In defeat, it’s not giving up in the assumption that you have failed, it’s not giving up in choosing to not have the outcome that you want. It’s none of those things. Surrender is letting go of control and allowing the divine to take the wheel. And the divine doesn’t always want to have the wheel, right. We came as creative beings. And there are times in our life where we’re making plans and strategy and building things and making choices. And when that feels free and in flow, that’s appropriate. But a lot of times we’re doing it, we’re we’re trying to force something. And I’ve talked about this before, if you feel like you’re pushing a boulder up a hill, or even beginning to push against that kind of resistance, you’ve moved out of that flow, and it is time to surrender. And the way that we surrender with conditions is we say I’m handing this over to divine to you now give me the outcome I want. My son is going off to school after college, and it’s time for me to surrender, right? He is out of he was never in my control. But he is completely out of my sphere of influence. On a day to day basis, at least my ability to see him when he gets home at the end of the day and know what he needs, I need to surrender that control because I can’t have that anymore. So in that surrender, if I say I’m handing your mom off to you divine because in your arms, he’s going to do well in school, he’s going to be mentally healthy. He’s going to take care of his body and his mind and his spirit and all of this, right? No, those are conditions, I’m handing off my control, understanding that lots of outcomes can happen, that are not how outcomes I would have chosen. But in that surrender, I’m not saying I want those outcomes, I’m saying I understand those outcomes are on the table, I understand the outcome of him, not being able to handle college is on the table, him failing out him having mental health issues, him having physical issues, all of those things are on the table. And if the only way I believe the Divine is is taking the wheel is for those things to not be part of the equation, then I’m putting conditions on there surrender when you fully surrender again, it’s not that you’re saying you want those things or you’re reaching for them you’re accepting that those are a possibility. And and here’s the key if they happen, they are for the highest good. So even though I may not understand the divine plan And why, you know, my son having a difficult time at school, not that he’s going to but if that happened, why that’s part of the divine plan. I need to if I’m in surrender, except that that is for the highest good, even if I don’t understand it. And of course, I’m talking about my son. So then we have a further complication, which is that he may be fighting flow, right, and he may be creating his own difficulties. But again, he is walking with the divine I am no, I am not the person to decide to take my son off the table. And I’ll point to my own business. Over the last months, the divine has been slowly peeling away pieces of my business and asking me to let go for a time, almost every aspect of my business that generates income. And not that everything’s happening all at once. And this podcast is one of those examples, because it’s not that necessarily I make money from the podcast, but you find out about me and I talk about the things I’m doing that leads people to buy, right. So this is, the second to last episode, next week will be the last episode for a while. And I don’t know what a while is, I know it’s at least months, but it could be longer. And as that was happening, I went through what I described as existential terror. And I’m telling you that, because it really can be that excruciatingly scary. When you’re in the beginning stages of surrender. Because your ego, your fear brain is still trying to get back control, and it is hitting you with every possible thing that could go wrong at one point. Moving into this place of surrender and accepting that lots of outcomes like long term outcomes could be the result of this path on on. I wondered if perhaps the divine was taking me to a place where I’d be doing manual labor, where I’d be doing something completely different, where I’d be going back to banking, where you go back to law school, all different things, and all of them seemed not desirable. I put a lot of energy and time into building this business. And I love it. And I don’t want it to end. But I have to trust that if that’s where I’m being taken that that’s where I’m meant to go. Right? If flow is taking me there. Now that was happening, I want to say like, probably at a time, it was about four to six weeks ago. Since then, a lot of that is sort of dissolved away. Because it didn’t work. It didn’t keep me from moving forward with what I was being asked to do. And letting go of these pieces of my business. This piece has flown, you know, sort of washed over me and I no longer think that those are likely outcomes of this particular period of my life. But if I had stopped, because those things being potential outcomes felt unacceptable to me, then I’d be out of surrender. And the thing is, you can resist surrender. When the Divine is pulling you in a certain direction, when the universe is pulling me in a different direction. You can resist surrender, but if it’s necessary for your life path, and the point that I’m on right now, I know where I’m headed. Like all these things I’m being asked to do are necessary, they’re not nice to haves are necessary for me to fulfill my long term purpose on this planet. Do not gonna stop just because you don’t want it to happen. Right? Your Spirit team is not going to stop because these are things they are contracted to help you with, right? We have free will on a lot of things. But there’s a lot of room wiggle room in that contract. And if it’s, so if at any point you completely reject where you’re being taken. That is definitely a possibility. But they are going to make it really, really hard for you before you really land in that rejection. A Oh, I say this to people all the time, whatever is happening to you. That is the gentlest way your spirit team has of telling you to go in a different direction. So if it’s really uncomfortable, it’s probably going to get more uncomfortable. So as much as the existential is scary as hell.
The alternative is really really in real life uncomfortable. So I offer that to you as ever Mind or that surrender doesn’t mean I surrender so that you can fix it. Divine, I surrender so that you can give me my big pile of money, you can give me my perfect job, you can save my home from foreclosure, you can bring my child back to me that hasn’t been speaking to me, you can save my marriage, you don’t get to put those conditions on it. Now, the divine knows the desires in your heart. And unless it goes against your highest good, those are the desires that will be met. But it is possible that your desires are not for your highest good and in which case they won’t be met. And surrender does not mean, save me from this difficult situation by removing me from it. Surrender means helped me through it in a way that’s for my highest good. So I hope that there probably isn’t like the sunshine of your day, that’s not going to be the brightest spot of your day. But what this may do is help you actually get to a place of surrender. And here’s what I can promise you is on the other side of surrender, there is a deep, deep sea of faith and peace that you then enter when you truly surrender. And there is a freedom there. And there is

expanse of possibilities that open up for you once you do. I am in awe that six weeks ago or whenever I was in that period of time that I labeled existential terror, it felt like my whole life was being taken away from me and my world was just getting smaller and smaller and smaller. And once that pop, once that fool let go happened. All of the sudden, I saw there was a million possibilities now on the table that had not been there before. And it’s a state of being.

point in our life are in a position where there’s something for us to surrender to. And our fear is the only thing that keeps us from getting there. And I promise you, love is always the way and sometimes loving with an open heart is scary, but it truly is worth it. I send you all my love right now.
